Hawkesbury will play host to eight races on Wednesday afternoon, and HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for the day’s action. The track is currently rated a Heavy 8, while the rail is out 3m from the 1100m to the 450m and then in the true position for the remainder of the course. The meeting is scheduled to get underway at 12:50pm AEST, which sees a field of 11 two-year-old fillies do battle over 1100m.
Best Bet at Hawkesbury – Norwegian Bliss
Unbeaten mare Norwegian Bliss resumes on Wednesday in what looks a very winnable Benchmark 72 over 1100m. The Nathan Doyle-trained four-year-old has won all four of her career starts, all of which have been in pretty comfortable style over distances between 1100m and 1400m. The daughter of El Roca continues to raise the bar each run, going from Maiden grade to a strong victory in Benchmark 78 company at the end of last preparation. She will go forward from barrier four under James McDonald and she should take plenty of beating at start five.
Next Best at Hawkesbury – Shalailed
John O’Shea and Hugh Bowman combine in the second with two-year-old colt, Shalailed. The son of Shalaa has had two starts for two third placings, which came behind California Deeply and Russian Conquest last preparation. O’Shea has given this colt a bit of time to mature, which is what he looks to have done based on what we have seen in his two trials in Sydney in preparation for this first-up run. He comes off a nice trial win on April 4 at Randwick over 1045m on a Heavy 9, so that should be enough of an indicator to have him ready to go over 1100m. He has drawn well in gate two so he should get plenty of chances to break his maiden.
Best Value at Hawkesbury – Sebrenco
To kick off the quaddie legs, Tracey Bartley saddles up Sebrenco in a Fillies & Mares Benchmark 72 over 1300m. The three-year-old filly was a strong winner two starts back at Newcastle over 1200m on a Heavy 8, before going to Canterbury on April 6 and just not handling a completely bottomless deck. On the quick back-up and onto a better surface, the filly by Sebring should improve greatly out to 1300m. Kerrin McEvoy goes on board from barrier four, which will allow the filly to jump well and land in a handy position, which should be enough to see her be competitive. The $9 at Neds is very appealing.
