Metropolitan racing will be held at Hawkesbury Race Club on Wednesday afternoon, and it looks to be a strong seven-race program. The rail is out +5m between the 1100m and 450m, then +3m from the 450m to the winning post. We’re set to be racing on Heavy 9 conditions, and with more rain predicted leading into race-day, we think it’s set to remain in that range. The first race will kick things off at 1:25pm AEST.
Best Bet: Olentia
We’re keen to see the return of Olentia on Wednesday afternoon as the Chris Waller team has found a nice target first-up. She comes here after two wins in Queensland and a somewhat disappointing third-up run in the Magic Millions Rising Stars race on January 7. She wasn’t disgraced by any means, but it all may have been coming together too soon for this daughter of Zoustar. She’s trialled up nicely at Rosehill on March 27 leading into this 1300m contest, and with James McDonald electing to take the reins, we think she can make a statement on Wednesday afternoon. She’ll be finding a spot in the middle of the back with cover before storming down the middle of the track to score in the penultimate.

Next Best: Alcyone
Alcyone will appreciate the deteriorating conditions on Wednesday afternoon on resumption and should be very hard to beat. Despite appearing a staying type, his first-up profile suggests that he can produce over the shorter trips. His form reads 4:2-1-0 when first-up, while he has gone 11:3-3-1 in the wet. He has classy form on the resume as well, running mid-field in Listed company before heading to the paddock. His two recent barrier trials caught the eye, and with Zac Lloyd’s claim getting him into this BM88 race well with 59kg, Alcyone is a keen bet for us.

Next Best Again: Pretty Amazing
Pretty Amazing is second-up in the preparation and looks set to run a bold race as he steps out to the 1600m. She ran into Luvoir on March 22 and was beaten by less than a length when powering to the line but running out of time. The extra 50m to wind up should do the trick for this progressive mare out of American Pharoah. She won second-up in the past, and with the booking of Zac Lloyd to give her some relief on the weight scales, she looks a great chance to bring up career win number four with some luck in running.
