Hawkesbury Race Club is the destination for provincial racing in NSW this Thursday afternoon, with eight competitive races set for decision. The rail is in the true position throughout the entire circuit, and with perfect weather conditions in the next few days, we should be racing on a Good 4 surface. The first race is set to kick off proceedings at 12:50pm AEST.
Best Bet: Ganbare
Ganbare looks perfectly placed in Class 1 company on Thursday afternoon. As a two-year-old, the son of Maurice was ultra-competitive in Group-level races such as the Skyline Stakes and VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes. He returned in a strong BM72 at Rosehill on August 12 and wasn’t disgraced, finishing a length away from Kintyre after giving his rivals a fitness edge. This is a much easier contest for Ganbare, so look for jockey Adam Hyronimus to dictate terms and lead throughout the 1600m, proving too strong for this field.
Best Bet
Race 2 – #1 Ganbare (3)
3yo Colt | T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott | J: Adam Hyronimus (58.5kg)
$1.85 with Bet365
Next Best: Golden Passport
Golden Passport should be seeking three wins on the trot; however, things never went to script in his latest effort at Wyong on August 27. He ended up four wide throughout the 1600m contest and had no luck in transit but still toughed out a second-place finish. Adam Hyronimus jumps aboard the four-year-old gelding and should be looking to cross from barrier four. If Golden Passport can get some control over this field, he should be clinging on from a long way out, despite this being his first time racing over 2000m.
Next Best
Race 5 – #5 Golden Passport (4)
4yo Gelding | T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott | J: Adam Hyronimus (58.5kg)
$3.40 with Ladbrokes
Next Best Again: Pier Pressure
Pier Pressure is accepted for the maiden race against the girls and should be ready to go with two barrier trials under her belt after a 144-day spell. The filly by Press Statement raced against the top-line two-year-olds last preparation and only needs to take minor steps forward this time in to break her maiden status. Dylan Gibbons takes the reins from a soft draw (3) and should find the one-one position if ridden with aggression. Pier Pressure oozes class and should be the one to beat.
Next Best Again
Race 6 – #12 Pier Pressure (3)
3yo Filly | T: Kris Lees | J: Dylan Gibbons (55.5kg)
