Godolphin’s stable stalwart Hartnell will take his place as top weight in the $5 million Caulfield Cup with jockey Brad Rawiller to ride.
The James Cummings-trained multiple Group One winner Hartnell has 58kg for Saturday’s 2400m handicap which has a field of 18 plus four emergencies.
The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained Wolfe won Wednesday’s Coongy Cup at Caulfield to clinch a ballot exemption and he is set to back-up on Saturday with Beau Mertens booked to ride at 50kg.
The Mike Moroney-trained Sound is the first emergency with Neufbosc, True Self and Prince Of Arran the other reserves.
The Chris Waller-trained Finche is the current $5 favourite, with the barrier draw to be held later on Wednesday.
