We’re racing back at the city circuit in Hong Kong for a competitive nine-race program out of Happy Valley Racecourse on Wednesday night. We’re racing on the B course, and for the first time in a while, there is some rain expected. With that in mind, we could be getting a downgrade between now and the first race, which set to get us underway at 6:45pm HKT (9:45pm AEDT).
Best Bet: Son Pak Fu
Son Pak Fu was a very nice winner last time out at Happy Valley and we can’t see why he won’t be finding back-to-back wins on Wednesday night. He cleared out to score with dominance and was due some luck after finding some tough tasks throughout his campaign prior to the win. The form out of his winning effort on February 15 has already stacked up nicely with A Americ Te Specso a subsequent winner and Righteous Arion missing the winner’s enclosure by a nose. Son Pak Fu is now 3kg heavier for the win, but it shouldn’t be an issues with his key rivals looking lug big weights as well. He’s drawn to find the one-one position again on Wednesday and if Jerry Chau can find it again, we think Son Pak Fu is the best of the evening, despite a horse like Divine Era posing a threat. Son Pak Fu may have found his specialist course and distance and we’re happy to be siding with him in this Class 4 opener.

Next Best: Kung Fu Tea
We think you’ll be getting a nice price with online bookmakers for Kung Fu Tea and he finds a great race to bring up career win number five. He won three starts back at this course and distance by a nose on the line, beating home Chill Chibi, who has won since that race on January 4. Kung Fu Tea has had two more runs at this course and distance as well, running third behind E Legend and then at his latest performance running sixth behind Splendid Living. He drew barriers nine and eight respectively and was unable to get into a forward position which this son of Shocking appreciates In his racing. This time from barrier four, he should be in a stalking position turning for home and with some luck this time, this consistent seven-year-old can find another win to add to his resume.

Next Best Again: Winning Icey
You’d be hard pressed to find a more consist and unlucky galloper in the form guide at Hong Kong than Winning Icey. He’s got a career profile that reads 12:3-2-4 and his consistency will be looking to pay off with another win on Wednesday night. His last two performances have seen this son of Hinchinbrook be virtually last around the turn before thundering down the middle of the track into the minor money, finding second and third respectively. He gets gate four on Wednesday night and Hugh Bowman in the saddle to boot, with all things even and more positive ride, we should be seeing Winning Icey finish off best for a chance. The key will be pinching a break turning for home from Gold Gold Baby, who will be finishing off like the winner at some stage as well, but hopefully it’ll be too late as Winning Icey gets to the winning post first.

Best Value: Satirical Glory
Satirical Glory will be a monster price on Wednesday night and we’re giving him a chance on the each-way basis in the first leg of the quaddie. He’s having his eighth career start since arriving in Hong Kong for trainer David Hayes and looks to be improving to our eye. He stuck on nicely over the 1600m at Sha Tin behind Attullibigeal on February 19, who has Hong Kong Derby aspirations moving forward. He finished 3.5 lengths off the winner, but we think it was a brave run holding his position from outside the leader. He’s had zero luck drawing a barrier and on Wednesday night finally gets to a more suitable staying trip. By So You Think, we believe this four-year-old gelding is ready to do something and unless he puts in a bold effort, he may well find himself in Class 4 moving forward. Matthew Poon can do what he likes from gate one, whether that be lead or taking a sit, regardless we’ll leave it to him as Satirical Glory only needs to be running a place for a big return for followers.
