Hong Kong racing returns to the bright lights of Happy Valley Racecourse on Thursday evening, with an ultra-competitive nine-race program lined up. The rail is in the A position, and although there are some scattered showers forecast in the lead-up, it shouldn’t affect the Good 4 rating. The action is scheduled to get underway at 6:40pm local time.

Beauty Waves brings a formidable record of three starts for two wins and a minor placing at this track and trip. His latest attempt was a narrow defeat at the hands of Midori Glory on May 22, with the four-year-old then picking up a jump-out victory on the Sha Tin all-weather circuit on June 25. This Class 2 is his toughest assignment to date, but with gate one giving Karis Teetan the option to lead or get the leader’s back, Beauty Waves should get every chance to continue his impressive preparation.

Next Best at Happy Valley: Ma Comet
Back-to-back runner-up performances should have Ma Comet ready to peak in this Class 4 contest. He looked the winner in his most recent effort at this course and distance on June 16, but Red Elegance came home with a withering burst to catch him in the shadows of the post. The four-year-old should gain the perfect stalking position from barrier three, and with a few less dangers to spoil the party, Ma Comet can finally break his Hong Kong maiden at the eighth time of asking.

Best Value at Happy Valley: Racingrace
After heading back to the trials to work on his barrier manners, Racingrace looks like terrific each-way value with online bookmakers. The gelding missed the start by some six lengths at Happy Valley on May 8, yet he showed a stunning turn of foot to get within 3.5 lengths of Ace Power. It seems he has done enough to satisfy the stewards, and coming third-up into this wide-open Class 4 race, Racingrace is worth forgiving.
