With 48 preliminaries were held today at Shepparton and Geelong, and yesterday and Warragul and Ballarat, and the scene is now set for 12 cracking finals at Bendigo on Friday 18 June.
The top two placegetters in all 48 races have made it through to what will be the richest night of provincial greyhound racing in Victoria’s history, including three races worth $75,000 to the winner.
Catch The Thief showed why he was one of tonight’s headline acts at Geelong with a brilliant performance to run down the in-form Hazey Roy in a heat of the Pink Diamond Champion Sprinter.
Also at Geelong the much anticipated clash between the almighty Ferdinand Boy and Aussie Secret went the way of the latter.
And Five Star showed his performance in winning the Lizrene at Sandown’s recent Speed Star night was no fluke, taking out the Pink Diamond Champion Distance heat at Geelong.
Earlier in the day at Shepparton, 385m track record holder Oriental Amber gave former track record holder Benchester a start before surpassing him in a Pink Diamond Champion Short Course, with both greyhoundsmaking it through to the $75,000 to-the-winner final.
The box draws for all 12 Pink Diamond Finals will be published on GRV’s website and Facebook Page on Saturday afternoon.
