Since its inception in 1969, the Goulburn Race Club has been one of the major operators of horse racing across the Southern Tablelands region of NSW, finding its permanent home at Racecourse Drive in 1999.
The city of Goulburn has a long-standing association with horse racing, with records dating back to 1838, when challenge races were held by NSW police troopers within the vicinity of where the Gordon Hotel is located today.
With over 20 horse racing meetings scheduled throughout the year, Goulburn Racecourse is utilized regularly by stakeholders, with jump-outs, barrier trials, and training facilities available for use.
The $200,000 Goulburn Cup (1400m) is the major race on the calendar and was recently moved to August so that the winner can earn qualification for The Big Dance (1600m) set to be run on the first Tuesday of November.
Goulburn Race Club gets plenty of in-person interest from the major cities of Canberra (97.5km), Sydney (197km), Albury and Wagga with many of the big stables travelling their respective horses between the Remembrance Highway.
The Goulburn Race Club also offers a scenic location for functions both indoor and outdoor, covering the picturesque view of the Cookbundoon mountain ranges, perfect for weddings and intimate events for friends and family.
