The new week of racing kicks off at Goulburn Racecourse on Monday afternoon with eight races lined up for punters. The rail is out 5.5m the entirety of the course, and although the track is currently rated a Soft 5, with drying weather across the weekend, we’ll be looking at a Good 4 on race-day. The first race is set to get underway at 12:15pm AEST.
Best Bet at Goulburn: Klum
Klum was a smart debut winner at Scone on June 30 over the 900m and we’re confident this filly can go on with the job on Monday. She got back towards the rear of the field on that occasion before weaving a passage to the line to score by a nose. It was a massive effort and now finding the 1200m should only see improvement from this daughter of Snitzel. Heavelon Van Der Hoven takes the reins again and from barrier two should find a spot forward of mid-field. From there, we’ll trust Klum has the upside to make it back-to-back wins.

Next Best at Goulburn: Clovelly
In the opening race, Clovelly is set to make her return from a lengthy 190-day spell, and despite the long layoff, she looks to be a cracking bet to start the card. She finished her campaign with an emphatic win at Nowra on January 8 before heading to the paddock and has since trialed beautifully preparing for her return. Her latest jump-out particularly caught the eye when powering into second at Warwick Farm on July 7. She maps to get the one-one from barrier three on return, and provided Clovelly can produce her peak first-up, the $3+ with online bookmakers looks overs.

Next Best at Goulburn: Ferrari Girl
Ferrari Girl has had a drawn-out preparation for the Gary Portelli barn and now looks to reap the rewards to break her maiden status. Her latest may have left a lot to be desired over the 1000m at Goulburn; however, we’re happy to forgive the Menari bred filly and put the lackluster performance down to the wet surface. Back on top of the ground we expect a much-improved effort over the 1200m and with a nice swing in the weight on the likely favorite, Champ De Mars, after they met two starts back at Nowra on June 20. She draws (1) to get the box seat throughout the journey and Ferrari Girl can pick up a much-deserved maiden victory.
