HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for Thursday’s meeting at Gosford, including odds from Australia’s top bookmakers. The track is rated a Soft 5, while the rail is in the true position for the entirety of the course. The first of seven races is set to go at 1:25pm AEDT.
Gosford Best Bet – Emissive
Having run last in her very first trial back in December 2020, Emissive is since unbeaten at the trials and in her sole race. The four-year-old daughter of Swiss Ace made her debut on January 13 at Gunnedah and was simply dominant, leading all of the way to win by 6.8 lengths in slick time compared to the other 1000m race on the day. Tommy Berry will takeover the riding duties on Thursday, which is a big plus, while barrier three should allow the mare to find the front easily, control the race and kick off the bend. She looks the goods.
Next Best at Gosford – Shameless Miss
In the second race of the day, Chris Waller and Tommy Berry combine with a last-start winner in Shameless Miss. This four-year-old mare by Shamexpress has only had four starts since her debut back in March and she has been a model of consistency, placing third, second and first in her three most recent starts respectively. Having started as favourite at Newcastle on September 4 over 1400m in maiden grade, Shameless Miss was able to settle second in the run before booting clear to win by just under a length. Although her trial was nothing spectacular in December, she should carry some residual fitness into this 1600m assignment. From gate three, Berry will no doubt have her handy in the run and give her every chance to continue on her winning ways.
Next Best Again at Gosford – Chenin
Mark Newnham and Joshua Parr combine in the fifth race of the afternoon with Chenin, a three-year-old filly lining up in just her second start. This daughter of Pierro showed some potential in her trials prior to her debut run on January 12, and while it was a good run on debut, she just wasn’t quite able to get the job done, running second by three-quarters of a length. Although Chenin settled close in the run on debut, barrier nine could present a couple of problems early, especially around Wyong over the mile, so we hope to see Parr go back at the start, find cover and use the home bend as a bit of a slingshot to allow her to let down strongly late. The extra trip will certainly suit this girl, who will no doubt be looking for further.
