Known as the Gosford Race Club, The Entertainment Grounds is an all-purpose location in the Central Coast region of NSW, with horse racing taking centre stage throughout the year.
Functioning as a racecourse for both race-day and barrier trials, Gosford is a natural target for many of the provincial trainers, preparing horses for one of the 20 possible meetings scheduled during the season.

Gosford racecourse address & how to get there
The Entertainment Grounds are located at 4 Racecourse Rd, West Gosford, NSW, 2250 and is approximately 74.4km north of NSW’s major city of Sydney.
Located on the central coast of NSW, Gosford Race Club is one of the more conveniently located provincial circuits across the region.
Locals best form of transportation is via car, with The Entertainment Grounds providing ample free parking for all attendees.
If you’d rather head to the races without driving to the course proper, you can always utilize a Taxi or Uber, with both these options widely available in Gosford.
The best part about The Entertainment Grounds location is how closely it presides to Gosford Train Station. It’s only a 1.4km (20-minute walk) west of the station, providing easy access to the course for travellers both local and touring.
If you’re making the trip from Sydney, you’ll need to head north on the M1 if travelling by car, taking roughly an hour before your arrival. However, if you’re inclined to take public transport, regularly scheduled trains and buses depart from Sydney Central Station to Gosford Train Station, giving you plenty of options to get yourself to the races.
Gosford racecourse dimensions
Gosford Racecourse is a relatively tight-turning circuit, with a circumference of 1710m and a home straight of 250m, giving a slight advantage to on-speed gallopers when contesting races at Gosford.
Only two starting points launch from chutes at Gosford, with the 1200m sprint starting at the north-west side of the course, while the 2100m chute for the stayers is located to the east of the grandstand.
All other starting positions are located on the course proper.
Major races held at Gosford
A rise in prizemoney across all provincial racing in NSW has seen a significant boost in participation throughout the calendar year, with two major race days represented at Gosford Race Club.
The Listed Gosford Cup (2100m) boasts a prize pool of $300,000 and takes place in May toward the end of the major metropolitan autumn carnival racing, giving trainers more variety of options throughout the already busy season.
One of the most notable winners was trained out of the Chris Waller barn, with Moriarty securing victory in the 2012 edition before going on to place in multiple Group 1’s around the eastern states, finally earning Group 1 glory in the Northerly Stakes (1800m) in 2014.
In the summer, the fillies & mares get their chance to stride out with $200,000 up for grabs in the Group 3 Belle Of The Turf Stakes (1600m), usually contested in the latter part of December, since the inaugural running of the race in 1988.
