Tony Gollan cannot fault the preparation of his Magic Millions big guns Isotope and Jonker ahead of their date with destiny on Saturday.
Gollan took a team of four horses, headlined by Isotope and Jonker, to the Gold Coast barrier trials last Tuesday and left the track adamant they are in mint condition.
“Isotope was really good in her heat then in the open company trial Jonker, Outback Barbie and Tokoriki Lad did exactly what I wanted them to do,” Gollan said.
“They were important trials just to tune them up for Saturday because all four have had a space between runs.
“I’m very pleased with how they all trialled and most importantly how they’ve come through their hit-outs.
“They’re very fresh and nice and well.”
Isotope dominates betting for the $2 million Magic Millions Guineas (1400m) for which she is a $2.80 favourite with TAB fixed odds.
The filly finished third to her arch rival Away Game in the opening heat of the trial session conducted on the course proper at the Coast.
Jonker is a $5 favourite for the Magic Millions Snippets (1200m).
Outback Barbie and Tokoriki Lad will be joined by stablemate Macewen in the Magic Millions QTIS Open (1200m).
Outback Barbie is a $3.50 favourite with TAB fixed odds.
Macewen is not a graduate of the Magic Millions sale but gained entry to the QTIS race by claiming a wildcard after he scored in a qualifying race at Eagle Farm on Boxing Day.
“It’s great when you can target these wildcard races which adds another dimension to Magic Millions day,” Gollan said.
“It’s really satisfying for Macewen to do that and he won’t be making up the numbers in the QTIS race.”
