Racing returns to Moonee Valley on Friday night, this time for a massive 10-race program in near-perfect conditions. All the talk coming out of Moir Stakes Night on September 23 was the evident on-speed bias throughout the meeting, and with the rail coming out 7m on a track rated a Soft 6, it could be a similar story this week. The night of racing is set to get underway at 5:15pm AEST, with the last race set to go at 9:45pm.
Moonee Valley Best Bet: Savannah Cloud
The Phillip Stokes-trained Savannah Cloud is as honest a horse as you could hope for, finishing no worse than third in seven of his last eight starts. The five-year-old gelding resumed from a near six-month spell with a narrow defeat at Geelong on September 4 when forced to travel wide without cover up on speed. Having drawn barrier one for this assignment, getting caught wide will not be an issue; instead he draws to gain a gun run in transit throughout. He has a win over subsequent Sandown Stakes winner Gentleman Roy from earlier in the year, as well as not being far off the Group 1-quality Yonce back in March as well. He draws to get every favour in the run, and considering he has a win and two minor placings from three starts at Moonee Valley, Savannah Cloud looks a clear best bet of the night.

Next Best at Moonee Valley: Viviane
With a win and a narrow runner-up result to her name in her two starts this campaign, the Mathew Ellerton-trained Viviane has returned in fine fettle and looks to be one of the better bets of the night. The four-year-old mare has won three times and finished second on two other occasions in her last five starts, suggesting she comes to this BM70 in red-hot form. Considering she already has a win to her name when third-up from a spell, she looks hard to beat. All three of those recent wins came at 1000m, and from barrier four we expect Craig Williams to take up the running and have Viviane set a tempo that her rivals will not be able to match.

Best Value at Moonee Valley: Look Sharpish
The Leon & Troy Corstens-trained Look Sharpish has a strong affiliation with The Valley having won on two occasions from four starts, including at the 2040m which she steps out at on Friday. She won at this track and trip three runs ago back in March when settling at the rear of the field and hitting the line strongly late on. She resumed with a midfield finish on the Pakenham synthetic on August 26 but did enough to suggest she was worth following when stepping out to a more reasonable distance. If Damien Oliver can have her within a couple of lengths of her rivals at the top of the straight, then Look Sharpish will be hard to hold out. Online bookmakers are giving us around $4.60 for the win, and that is overs.
