It’s hard to believe Foxy Frida ($1.60) hadn’t won a Group level race heading into Saturday afternoon; however, that’s all changed as the five-year-old mare put away her rivals stylishly in the Group 3 R A Lee Stakes.
The daughter of Foxwedge gave her opposition a galloping lesson, going on to score a dominant victory under a perfectly timed ride by newly crowned Group 1 winning jockey Billy Egan.
It was the old boy So Si Bon ($6) who lead them turning for home and looked to pinch a nice break on his opposition, but when Billy Egan pulled the persuader on Foxy Frida and slide up the inside, she was far too good over the 1600m.

There could be more to come for Foxy Frida this preparation as trainer Andrew Noblet referred to in the post-race interview, as she’s only done this third-up into the campaign.
“She doesn’t stop trying,” said Noblet.
“He rides this horse very well (Billy Egan) he understands her, and you know I was never really worried, he had to weave his way through a bit, but found the right place and hit the line really well.
“There’s a nice fillies & mare weight-for-age mile race at Eagle Farm on the sixth of June, so we might whack her on the plane and go up there if she pulls up well.”
Billy Egan gave Foxy Frida a very strong assessment post-race, suggesting this mare can now go on with the job this preparation.
“She’s a terrific little horse,” said Egan.
“I think it’s great for Nobby (Andrew Noblet) to get a Group win with her now, cause I think she’s run two seconds in Group races now and she’s got that win that’ll be good for her.
“She’s got an explosive turn-of-foot so I was confident in what my horse was going to do – When she cut the corner, she really exploded through.”
