The Victorian Government has announced a number of ‘sensible changes to pandemic orders and public health recommendations’ set to come into effect across the state.
As such, from Saturday 26 February, the wearing of face masks at Victorian greyhound race tracks will be optional, except in the case of:
– hospitality employees
– workers serving or facing members of the public, such as at reception, meeting guests or serving customers
Temperature testing at Victoria’s racetracks will also cease from Saturday.
State Government requirements for QR code check in and mandatory vaccinations for patrons and workers, which includes participants, has not changed. Anyone attending the track or club as a patron or to work is required to be fully vaccinated unless they hold a valid medical exemption.
COVID Safety Officers will continue to ensure venue check-in by QR code and check for proof of vaccination or vaccination exemption at entrance points for every person (staff, participants and patrons) attending race meetings and trial sessions.
GRV will continue to provide masks for people attending racetracks should they wish to wear them, while social distancing and good hygiene practices will continue to be encouraged, especially for people in high-risk health categories.
Engaged trainers, attendants and/or catchers who travel together in the same vehicle and are from different households are encouraged to wear masks when car-pooling (and it’s recommended that fresh air be circulated in the vehicle).
People must not attend racetracks if they are unwell, have COVID-19 or are a close contact. Read more
GRV thanks all participants, clubs, volunteers and staff for assisting in our ongoing endeavours to keep people safe while maintaining our racing program.
