What Eagle Farm Races
Where Eagle Farm Racecourse – 230 Lancaster Rd, Ascot QLD 4007
When Saturday, July 16, 2022
First Race 11:18am AEST

Eagle Farm Racecourse will play host to nine metropolitan races on Saturday, July 16. HorseBetting’s Queensland racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for the program, which is scheduled to begin at 11:18am AEST. The track is rated a Soft 5, but the sun is shining in Brisbane, so an upgrade is expected before Saturday, while the rail is out just 1m for the entire course.

Best Bet at Eagle Farm – Spiritualised

Tony Gollan’s colt Spiritualised was a deserving maiden winner at the Sunshine Coast on June 19 over 1000m. The son of Spirit Of Boom had previously finished second in his two career starts behind the Group-performed Jemeldi, but we didn’t expect him to win as convincingly as he did – posting a three-length margin in slick time. The form from that race has stacked up with Hoot ‘N’ Holler winning next start, while Big Sky Country placed at Rockhampton last Friday. The other two-year-old race on the same day was run in almost identical time, and that race has produced subsequent winners All That Pizzazz, Cool ‘N’ Ready and Bulikov, so we are expecting Spiritualised to take some beating in this. James Orman will send the two-year-old forward from barrier nine and he should be extremely hard to beat.

Next Best at Eagle Farm – Rayjen

Rob Heathcote’s filly Rayjen showed us the ability we have always thought she has had, when running a slashing third in the Group 3 Winx Guineas at the Sunshine Coast over 1600m. The three-year-old has had a good preparation so far, and now out to 1800m in lesser grade, she does look ready to win. By So You Think, Rayjen has always looked as though she would be able to run this sort of trip, but injury setbacks have put a hold on that thought. She seems to have matured into a really nice filly, with time being one of her best friends. Taylor Marshall has ridden her extremely well in her past two starts, so it’s good to see him keep the ride and get the chance to boot her home. This is the ideal race for Rayjen.

Best Value at Eagle Farm – Yes Dream

We made Yes Dream a horse to follow in Tuesday’s edition of The Follow Files, so we are pleased to see him accept in Saturday’s 3YO Handicap and, importantly, draw a good gate. The North Queenslander was trapped wide without cover on Saturday over 1050m, but he stuck on very gamely to run third. From barrier three and out to 1200m, the Michael Lee-trained son of Dream Ahead shouldn’t have to do any work, saving his sprint for the concluding stages. He is a classy conveyance who can crack it in South East Queensland.
