After a terrific afternoon of racing at Eagle Farm on Saturday for Queensland Guineas Day, we return to Brisbane’s HQ on Wednesday for eight midweek races. HorseBetting’s Queensland racing expert presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for the program, which will be run on a Good 4 with the rail out 9m for the entire course. Racing is scheduled to get underway at 12:28pm AEST.
Best Bet at Eagle Farm – Delexo
Kristen Buchanan and Madi Derrick combine in the final event on the program with Delexo, a winner at this track and distance two starts ago. The four-year-old son of Exosphere romped in to win by 1.25 lengths in a Class 6 on April 2, before being beaten on a Heavy 8 at Doomben on April 23 over 1110m. He comes back to 1000m on Wednesday and back on top of the ground which is sure to suit. Derrick’s 2kg claim means that Delexo will only be carrying 57.5kg in this Benchmark 78, which is very advantageous. From barrier 10, the sprinter will be sent forward and should prove hard to gun down.

Next Best at Eagle Farm – Savagal
We added Savagal into our blackbook after her slashing fourth in the Listed Princess Stakes (1640m) on April 23 at Doomben, and she now finds a very winnable 1845m Benchmark 65 Handicap. The three-year-old filly is likely on a Queensland Oaks (2200m) campaign, so this looks the perfect lead up for her as she will need to win more prizemoney to get into the Group 1 field later on in the month. The three-year-old filly by Savabeel does typically get back in her runs, but from barrier four, James Orman can be a touch more positive on her and put her into the race earlier, which will give the filly a genuine winning chance. She looks to be a touch better than these as she steps sharply back in grade.

Next Best Again at Eagle Farm – Hidden Smile
Hidden Smile has not done anything in her first five starts, but Anthony Cummings has enough of an opinion of her to run her in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) last start as a maiden, so we are happy to be with her at odds on Wednesday. The three-year-old filly by Pride Of Dubai debuted behind Alegron last August at Newcastle and has since finished fourth in three straight races, before failing to beat a runner home in her recent Group 1 test. She now comes up to Brisbane and finds a very weak 2156m Maiden Handicap and she has to carry only 53kg under gun apprentice Kyle Wilson-Taylor. This is certainly winnable.
