What Eagle Farm Races
Where Eagle Farm Racecourse – 230 Lancaster Rd, Ascot QLD 4007
When Friday, January 26, 2024
First Race 12:48pm AEST

Brisbane Racing Club will host a very competitive eight-race card at Eagle Farm Racecourse this Friday afternoon. With little to no rain forecast, we don’t expect the track to change much from the Good 4 rating on Wednesday. The rail will be pushed out to the +14m position, which should see the track play favourably to on-speed runners.

The opening race at Eagle Farm is scheduled to jump at 12:48pm AEST.

Best Bet at Eagle Farm: John Rambo

John Rambo returned with a dominant victory at Doomben over 1200m before stepping up in grade sharply. The Tony Gollan-trained gelding was well beaten at his next two starts over 1400m and 1300m, which has forced Gollan to drop him back to 1200m on Friday. This son of Adelaide broke his maiden at this track and trip in July. Due to this guy dropping back in grade sharply and drawing a nice gate, this contest looks ideal for him fourth-up. Ryan Maloney will attempt to settle in the first five or six off the rail and allow John Rambo to build his momentum on the home turn before finishing off strong.

Best Bet

Race 7 – Silks#5 John Rambo (5)

4yo Gelding | T: Tony Gollan | J: Ryan Maloney (59.5kg)

Next Best at Eagle Farm: Damo Dayz

Tony Gollan and Ryan Maloney will combine with Damo Dayz when the four-year-old gelding steps out for his second start of his career. This son of Cable Bay was very impressive on his debut, where he ran home from the back of the field to nab Paris Avenue in the final strides. Gollan has given this galloper a quiet trial over 1000m at Doomben, which should have him ready for this fresh run. From barrier three, Maloney should be able to settle closer to the speed, and if he shows a similar finishing burst to his debut win, Damo Dayz will prove very hard to beat.

Next Best

Race 5 – silks#3 Damo Dayz (3)

4yo Gelding | T: Tony Gollan | J: Ryan Maloney (58.5kg)

Best Value at Eagle Farm: Pink Thunder

Pink Thunder is coming off the back of a nice performance when finishing third behind Bloodhawke over 1110m at Doomben on January 10 second-up. The Tony Gollan-trained filly was well beaten in a good form race on debut behind Certainlycan before an improved run when settling behind the speed. Cejay Graham rode this daughter of Encryption at her most recent start, so with her retaining the ride and taking 1.5kg off her back, we expect another good showing on Friday. From barrier one, Graham should be able to find the lead on the rail and lead all the way to break her maiden at the third time of asking.

Best Value

Race 3 – silks#8 Pink Thunder (1)

3yo Filly | T: Tony Gollan | J: Cejay Graham (a1.5) (58kg)
