The Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate will headline the massive 10-race card at Doomben Racecourse this Saturday afternoon. With the track being rated a Heavy 8 on Thursday, we anticipate the surface will stay in the Heavy range come Saturday as there is more rain on the forecast throughout the meeting. The rail will be in the +3m position for the entire circuit, with action set to kick off at 12:13pm AEST.
Vo Rogue Plate Tip: Show Me Mercy
Stuart Kendrick and Michael Rodd will combine with Show Me Mercy for the second straight start after they combined with this three-year-old gelding to finish third in the Listed Gold Edition Plate behind Abounding. The son of Astern settled midfield and was slightly held up behind the eventual winner, but once he got into clear air, he lengthened nicely and was the strongest of the top three through the finish line. Stepping up to 1350m second-up looks ideal for this talented galloper, and he should be able to settle midfield off the rail from barrier three. With even luck turning into the home straight, Show Me Mercy should prove too good for his rivals late.

Nudgee Stakes Tip: Comrade Rosa
Comrade Rosa backed up her eye-catching first-up run to claim the Listed Tattersalls Classic second-up at this track over 1200m on November 25, where she flew home from midfield to defeat Better Get Set by just under a length. The Tony Gollan-trained mare has now won two Listed races and a Group 2 since being with Queensland’s leading trainer, and she is going as well as ever. Although this daughter of Capitalist has drawn barrier 11, her racing style should see her settle towards the rear of the field and appreciate a strong tempo. Ryan Maloney will ensure that this girl starts moving to the outside on the home turn before letting down with her lethal turn of foot.

Best Bet at Doomben: Eaglemont
Eaglemont will line up in his 12th start this campaign on Saturday, where the Matthew Dunn-trained gelding will seek his third win of the preparation, coming off the back of a close runner-up finish behind Zegalo at Rosehill on December 2. This son of Camelot ran on strong from the back of the field over 2000m to go down in a close photo finish. Dunn has engaged Blake Shinn for this contest, and after drawing barrier two, he has drawn to do no work and settle in behind the speed. If Shinn can get Eaglemont off the rail when turning into the home straight, he will prove very hard to beat.

Next Best at Doomben: Midnight In Tokyo
Since joining the Annabel Neasham stable in October, Midnight In Tokyo has finished in the money at all four starts, including a strong win at this track over 1200m on November 11, three starts back. In her most recent start, this four-year-old mare looked the winner with 200m to go but was run over by Dream Hour late and finished second, beaten 2.4 lengths in The Gateway over 1400m. Dropping back slightly in grade and distance should see a change in fortunes for the daughter of Kobayashi. Add in the fact that Bailey Wheeler will take 2kg off her back, and this race sets up perfectly for Midnight In Tokyo to find the winners circle again.

Best Value at Doomben: The Face
The Face has been in great form of late for his new trainer, David Vandyke, winning three on the bounce, with two of those wins coming at this track over 1200m and 1350m. This son of Rubick has led every step of the way in those three wins, with his most recent victory coming in a Class 6 Handicap over 1350m, defeating Drive A Deel by 2.5 lengths on December 2. Although this race is tougher than his last start, he should be able to settle behind the speedy Zoustyle, who is on test at the distance. If he starts to run out of steam at the 300m mark, The Face will be ready to pounce and give the rest of the field something to chase.
