The Brisbane Racing Club will host a very competitive nine-race card at Doomben this Wednesday afternoon. Although the track was rated as a Soft 5 at the time of acceptances, there is no rain on the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday, and the surface should improve into the Good range before the meeting begins. The rail will be pushed out to the +9m position for the entire circuit, with the opening race scheduled to jump at 11:58am AEST.
Best Bet at Doomben: Punch Lane
Punch Lane was very good without winning on his Queensland debut as the Anthony & Sam Freedman-trained gelding ran home strongly to finish third behind Midnight In Tokyo over 1200m. The son of So You Think is yet to miss the placings when second-up (2:1-0-1) and three of his four career wins have come in races over 1300m to 1400m in distance. Although barrier 12 looks to be a concern, Craig Williams will attempt to settle midfield off the fence, and if he doesn’t have to cover extra ground mid-race, Punch Lane will return to the winners’ circle.
Best Bet
Race 8 – #13 Punch Lane (12)

Next Best at Doomben: Jungle Prince
After dropping back in grade from the Group 3 Gold Coast Guineas to a Class 1 Handicap last start and finishing second behind Brasco by less than a length over 1350m, Jungle Prince will rise in trip to 1650m third-up. The Tony & Maddysen Sears-trained gelding had to make a long searching run out wide to get into the race, but he was still able to finish his race off nicely, suggesting he is looking for longer now. James Orman has retained the ride, and from barrier one, he will be able to settle Jungle Prince closer to the speed and prove too strong late.
Next Best
Race 6 – #1 Jungle Prince (1)
3yo Gelding | T: Tony & Maddysen Sears | J: James Orman (60kg)

Best Value at Doomben: Anemacore
Anemacore will step out over 2060m for the first time this Wednesday, following his good performance over 1630m at this track on May 29, where he ran home strongly into fifth place. Last preparation, the Shaun Dwyer-trained gelding raced over 1800m twice, and he proved that he could stay, so rising to 2000m plus shouldn’t be a problem. This son of Unusual Suspect will receive the run of the race from barrier one, and if Michael Rodd can get him clear with 300m to go, Anemacore will get every chance to win again.
Best Value
Race 4 – #1 Anemacore (1)
4yo Gelding | T: Shaun Dwyer | J: Michael Rodd (61kg)
