Midweek racing in Brisbane heads to Doomben on Wednesday afternoon for an eight-part card starting at 12:33pm AEST. Read on for HorseBetting.com.au’s best bets and quaddie selections for the meeting, which is set to be run on a Soft 5 with the rail out 6m for the entire circuit.
Best Bet at Doomben – Otyrar
Our best bet of the day comes up in the opening leg of the quaddie when the Chris Waller-trained Otyrar looks to continue his impressive form. The four-year-old gelding has a win and two minor placings from his last three starts, and having shown he can do it on the back of any tempo, he looks the one to beat in this 2040m event. The four-year-old son of New Approach won at the track and trip two starts back and has not finished out of the quinella in his two starts at the 2000m distance range. From barrier 10, we anticipate James Orman will look to have this bloke settled towards the rear of the field. As long as he gains a tow into the race approaching the home turn, he has the form and ability to finish over the top of his rivals.
Best Bet
Race 6 – #1 Otyrar (10)
4yo Gelding | T: Chris Waller | J: James Orman (59kg)

Next Best at Doomben – Drammatica
Tony Gollan and Ben Thompson will be hoping it is third time lucky this campaign for four-year-old mare Drammatica. The Sprit Of Boom mare has been narrowly beaten at both starts this campaign, most notably when going down by a lip at the Sunshine Coast on August 28. She simply had too much to do on that day, yet showed a win isn’t too far away if she can replicate that form. Despite drawing the widest barrier (12), she will snag back to the rear of the field, but with Outback Playboy set to make this a genuinely run 1050m maiden event, the race looks perfectly poised for Drammatica to flash home late.
Next Best
Race 1 – #7 Drammatica (12)
4yo Mare | T: Tony Gollan | J: Ben Thompson (57kg)

Best Value at Doomben – A Call From Heaven
We will be looking to bookend the program with Tony Gollan and Ben Thompson, this time with A Call From Heaven over 1350m in a BM68. The four-year-old mare finished the best at Ipswich on August 17 and looked to have a bit left in reserve despite the half-length victory margin. She already has a win to her name at this track and trip, and having only finished out of the top three once in her six career starts, she clearly has some ability under the hood. From barrier 13, look for Thompson to have this girl settled midfield with cover with any luck. If afforded a cosy run in transit, A Call From Heaven looks to be a great bet with online bookmakers.
Best Value
Race 9 – #15 A Call From Heaven (13)
4yo Mare | T: Tony Gollan | J: Ben Thompson (55.5kg)
$3.80 with Palmerbet
