Dogs to follow

Form expert Dale Code has picked out a selection of greyhounds to follow from around Victoria. You may even want to add them to your Blackbook account.

FERNANDO FRANK
Breeding:
Mar ’18 Fernando Bale x Naughty Cazza
Trainer: David Knocker, Pearcedale
Record: 44 starts 8-12-4
Comment: Has had absolutely no luck in his races of late and his run of unfavourable box draws have not helped. Can match it with the best middle-distance chasers in the land and another win is expected sooner rather than later, particularly if he can draw close to the rails. Here is one of his eye-catching recent runs (box 4)  WATCH.

“Fernando Frank can match it with the best middle-distance chasers in the land.”

WATCH: Fernando Frank (3) weaves his way through traffic before just being beaten at Cranbourne.

SECURITY MAN
Breeding: Feb ’19 Fernando Bale x Tatty Fields
Trainer: Neville Wakefield, Cranbourne
Record: 9 starts 2-2-0
Comment: The start of his career has a little bit of Phar Lap about it, in that he was well down the track in his first few runs, but after a couple of spells he has returned to racing a new dog, producing two scorching wins and a couple of unlucky placings in his next five starts. While not suggesting he’ll reach the lofty heights of Phar Lap, I’m confident he will continue to improve and many more wins are ahead of him on the provincial circuit at the very least.

“After a couple of spells Security Man has returned to racing a new dog.”

WATCH: Security Man (4) blitzed his rivals at Warragul two runs ago.

REDZIN
Breeding: Mar ’18 Blazin’ Bomber x Black and Pretty
Trainer: Patrick Burley, Wattle Glen
Record: 36 starts 6-7-5
Comment: Much improved type that has appreciated the step up in distance in recent times. His run at Sandown Park last start over 595m gave every indication that he will run out a good 700m and I have no doubt he can win a city distance race or two in the near future.

“I have no doubt Redzin can win a city distance race or two in the near future.”

WATCH: Redzin (4) was superb when recently running down Suntory Rose (1) over 600m at The Meadows.

REBELLIOUS
Breeding: Aug ’19 Barcia Bale x On the Runway
Trainer: Jason Thompson, Pearcedale
Record: 10 starts 8-0-2
Comment: Has burst on to the racing scene with some scorching provincial wins having won eight of his first 10 starts. His last start win at Bendigo on a rain effected track was just .08sec outside of Shima Shine’s 425m track record. He is a superstar in the making and greyhound enthusiasts can’t wait for his city debut. If he stays fit and healthy he could potentially become the nation’s best sprinter.

“Rebellious could potentially become the nation’s best sprinter.”

WATCH: Rebellious (5) takes out The Prospector Final at Bendigo recently in a breathtaking 23.42sec.
