Anthony & Sam Freedman and Blake Shinn have combined with debutant De Sonic Boom to cause somewhat an upset in the Blue Diamond Preview for the Fillies.
After jumping as a slight outsider in the market at $13 with online bookmakers, the daughter of Spirit Of Boom was strong at the end of 1000m and ran through the line to defeat outsiders Zousoko and Sensical.
The $300,000 Inglis Premier Yearlings purchase showed that she may have above-average ability and that she is a contender in the 2023 Blue Diamond Stakes, by beating a strong field of race-experienced horses at Sandown.

Sam Freedman spoke about the dazzling debut win in the Blue Diamond Preview post-race.
“She’s actually a filly we’ve had a good opinion of and her first couple of trials were just okay and we were tossing up whether we tipped her out,” Freedman said.
“We’re glad we gave her one more trial and she pulled up super.
“We thought the 1000 (metres) was a little too sharp, which it might have been, but she got a lot of scope and she’s very sensible.
“It was just great to get some black-type at her first start.
“You’ll see her in a couple of weeks in the Prelude and then the true and tried route all the way there (to the Blue Diamond Stakes).”
Blake Shinn echoed similar thoughts to Freedman in his post-race interview about the filly.
“Look she’s pretty smart,” Shinn began his interview.
“The race was set up to suit her racing style, with her being able to get back and run on.
“She’s got a really good brain on her and she’s being trained by really good trainers who are good trainers of two-year-olds.
“What give me confidence was she trialled beside my horse that I rode in the last race (Altruist), and he rode a good race in the colts division.
“I come here with a lot of confidence without even riding her or knowing her, but when I got on her she’s a very professional type.
De Sonic Boom has now shortened in Blue Diamond Stakes futures market to $13 with online betting sites.
