Damian Lane has confirmed he will ride Japanese contender Prognosis in this year’s Group 1 Cox Plate (2040m).
On Friday, it was announced that the son of Deep Impact, trained by Mitsumasa Nakauchida and owned by Shadai Farm, will travel to Melbourne for the prestigious race at Moonee Valley on October 26.
Prognosis has secured three Group 2 wins and has placed at the top level three times, including back-to-back runner-up finishes in the Group 1 QEII Cup (2000m) in Hong Kong behind reigning Cox Plate champion Romantic Warrior.
Prognosis is currently the second favourite for the Cox Plate at $5 with horse racing bookmakers.
