Thursday night’s Sandown Park card will begin with a bang when sensational debut winner Zac’s Entity makes his second appearance in a Maiden final.
All eyes will be on Zac’s Entity – and perhaps the clock – after he ran a scorching 29.25sec last Sunday, scoring by 15 lengths, the second fastest performance by a maiden at Sandown, only eclipsed by G1 winner Burn One Down.
Drawn in box one, Zac’s Entity, trained by master trainer Kel Greenough, will get every opportunity to make it two from two.
Recent G1 Maturity Classic finalist Hill Top Jack (13 from 31 – 3 from 6 Trk/Dst), a litter brother to star Koblenz, will find tonight’s assignment easier than when third to Aston Rupee last Thursday.
Collinda Beast (9 from 19 – 4 from past 6) looks sure to be suited over 595m after an impressive last start Sale 650m victory, continuing his impressive recent form for champion trainer Jason Thompson.
Also heading to Sandown off strong provincial performances is ex-SA Group 3 winner Fly For Trix (19 from 31 – 4 from 5 Box 1).
One of the standout match-ups will see Riccarton Rick (7 from 20 Trk/Dst) clash with How Not Too (15 wins – 3 of past 4) and Rebel Riot (7 from 23 – 3 from 3 Trk/Dst).
Another feature clash will pit recent G3 Fireball finalist Whatever I Say (7 from 19) against G3 Launching Pad winner Kuro Kismet (12 wins – 3 of past 4).
At Warrnambool, G2 Warrnambool Cup finalist Got The Torque (12 from 44 – 4 from 10 Box 6) looks perfectly placed, while Blackpool Flash (25 from 49 – 3 from 6 Box 6) is set to boost his impressive strike rate.

The Watchdog says : ZAC’S ENTITY (1) burst onto the scene with a blinding 29.25sec debut win here on Sunday and appears the real deal. The most impressive part of his win was the run home time; he only went 5.28sec and 18.99sec through the first two markers before really hitting his stride and powering to the line. He lost a length or so in the run to the first turn, so with a clean getaway from the ‘red’, he may get down to around 5.15sec early and that could see him carve out a ridiculous 29.10sec. His lack of early speed may be a slight concern when he steps up in class, but he has a bright future, and I can’t wait to see him step up in distance in the future. DON’T TELL BLUEY (8) was also an impressive heat winner, carving out a sizzling 29.57sec, and should be in the mix again. WESTERN BLAZER (4) was far from disgraced when placed in the same heat and if he can step a little better, he can fill the quinella spot. EXTERNAL LINK (6) could be the value runner for ‘exotic’ punters. He gets back early; however, with the ‘red’ expected to break away from the field mid-race, the second division will be tightly bunched, and he’ll be charging to the line.

TAB fixed odds: $1.32 Win (any one of the four selections to win)

The Watchdog says : BIG BOY BROOKE (7) turned in some big performances in his first preparation and is expected to fire fresh, while BOBBY BULL SHARK (4) has been brilliant in his past two here and with an ounce of luck early, a top three finish looks likely. The stayers’ event at Sandown is an open affair, so we have gone wide there, and I think the $1.55 in the multi adds some value. I’m expecting FLY FOR TRIX (1) to get the job done, but we have thrown in some other runners just in case he makes a mess of the start.

TAB fixed odds: $3.20 Place
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538436/race/1
The Watchdog says : He has turned in some eye-catching performances to date and with the ‘red’ expected to break away mid-race, the second division should be bunched and that should allow him to take advantage of some rails runs and sneak into the placings at nice odds.
$2 Place – RETRO ROCKET
Sandown Park Race 2 Box 7 515m 6:38pm
TAB fixed odds: $3.70 Place
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666538436/race/2
The Watchdog says : He isn’t in the top four selections as I believe there are better winning chances, but he’s turned in some terrific performances of late and represents enormous value at the $3.70 to place. He will settle mid-pack, but with the ‘pink’ runner expected to carve across and hunt for the rail, there could be some bunching and bumping at the first bend and he’ll be there to pounce mid-race.

: 2,4,6
: 2,3,4,8
The Watchdog says : COLLINDA BEAST (3) is flying at present and is expected to take a power of beating. However, due to the bend start, we’ve included the in-form GINTOKI BALE (1). The second leg is quite open, so we are hoping for some value with ‘Kinson’ and ‘Nihari’. I’m very keen on WHATEVER I SAY (2) in the third leg, but she’s a frontrunner, so we have included all star KURO KISMET (4) and NIKOLI BALE (6) just in case she makes a mistake at box rise. We are coming home strong, and fingers crossed for some more value in the final leg.
