After snaring yesterday’s G3 TAB Great Chase final with Ridge, William McMahon is hoping that Dr. Tucker (17 from 30 – 2 from 2 Box 3) will be triumphant in today’s 515m Free For All at Sandown Park.
The Watchdog’s tip faces stiff competition including G1 winner Lakeview Walter (5 from 11 Trk/Dst – 29.15sec PB), G1 placegetter Carry On Angel (2 from 3 Box 5 – 29.21sec PB), dual G3 finalist Riccarton Rick (won last 3) and Dr. Tucker’s kennelmate Dr. Madison.
Mepunga Mustang (5 from 8 – 29.18sec PB) is favoured to claim the $10,750 to-the-winner GRV Vic Bred Restricted Win final (515m) due to Wow She’s Fast suffering minor soreness.
Fantastic Raven (2 of last 4) v Old News (4 from 5) v G1 finalist Envy To Burn is an intriguing start to the meeting, while Venus Light (3 of last 4) v G1 finalist Kenny The Brute v Sandra’s Sticker should be a tough battle.
G3 runner-up Plan Ahead v Nikephoros (won last 2) v Amnesty (3 from 7) and G1 finalist Tough Tears v Don’t Tell Bluey (4 from 10) v Green Blazer v Aston Future are also even contests.
Rebellious (13 from 19 – 3 from 3 Box 5) and Street Riot (8 from 19) are both expected to dominate.
At Warrnambool, Aston Mireya v Abalone Fozz (3 of last 7 – 21.78sec PB) v G2 finalist Daniel Avocado (2 from 5 Trk/Dst) highlight the 390m Free For All.
Titan Blazer (5 from 12) is strongly fancied with G3 finalist Black Avenger scratched, while Osprey Phantom (3 from 5 Box 1) v G1 finalist Mepunga Katie and Dynamic Prince (5 from 6) v Substantial should be great duels.
Zipping Sense (3 of last 5) v Mr. Neo (2 of last 4 – 3 from 6 Box 6) is a terrific clash at Sale tonight, while Return Serve should boost her strike rate at Shepparton this afternoon.

MUST-WATCH RACE: TAB Melbourne Cup November 26 Free For All
LAKEVIEW WALTER DR. TUCKER CARRY ON ANGEL RICCARTON RICK
Sandown Park Race 8 515m 5:47pm
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/717404947/race/8
The Watchdog says : Thrilling line-up and it should be on from the outset. DR. TUCKER (3) has been enormous since resuming from a spell and he should be ready to tackle the 515m journey today. He did not have a lot of luck in Saturday night’s Group 2 Bendigo Cup final, but he did carve out a breathtaking 23.38sec when winning his heat and that sort of run will see him hit the back straight in sub 18.50sec. The last 40m is a little query, but I still think he can come home in around 29.20sec and that should be enough for him to score. Group 1 winner LAKEVIEW WALTER (2) is yet to win in his six runs since resuming from a spell, but he has been placed in five of those runs and has carved out some impressive times. He has probably lost a little bit of the brilliance that saw him win the Silver Chief, however he is still elite and if he can be within three lengths of ‘Tucker’ as they go past the second marker, he can definitely reel him in. CARRY ON ANGEL (5) is one of the state’s most underrated chasers, but he continues to go about his business and win Free For All events in town. He speared the lids here last week and was never really in doubt beating excitement machine WEBLEC BLAZER in a sizzling 29.42sec. The draw has not done him any favours, so he will need to time the start perfectly again. RICCARTON RICK (8) is a Sandown Park specialist, and he is racing with confidence, but he is drawn poorly out wide, and he will need a few things to go his way in the run. Punters looking for value may want to look at DR. MADISON (1). She can be a tad hard to follow but she has a big motor and from the favourable draw, she can settle in a prominent spot. It should be a great race and I cannot wait to see what DR. TUCKER (3) can produce in his return to town.

THE WATCHDOG’S $10 INVESTMENT
Thursday 21 October
$2 Place – HE SHALL RODGER
Sandown Park Race 1 Box 6 515m 3:27pm
TAB fixed odds: $4.40 Place
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/717404947/race/1
The Watchdog says : He is one of my favourite chasers and although he will need some luck in running, I am expecting him to get a nice run through early and he should be able to sneak into the placings at nice odds. There is an even amount of pace drawn underneath, so if he can begin slowly like normal, he should be able to drift across to the rail and get a nice run through as they bunch through the bend. The last 200m is where he does his best work, so if he gets a look at them, he can make a big impact.

First : Place – KENNY THE BRUTE

Second : Win – STREET RIOT
Sandown Park Race 10 Box 1 515m 6:24pm

Third : Win – OSPREY PHANTOM
Warrnambool Race 6 Box 1 450m 7:46pm
TAB fixed odds: $1.60 Win
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539096/race/6
The Watchdog says : KENNY THE BRUTE (2) has been luckless of late and from the good draw he is expected to make amends today. STREET RIOT (1) has a fair bit on his rivals class wise and he is expected to make every post a winner. OSPREY PHANTOM (1) broke the clock at Geelong two runs back and with a slow beginner on his outside, he should get all the breaks early and prove too strong late.
Multi price: $3.48
$4 Win – DR. TUCKER
Sandown Park Race 8 Box 3 515m 5:47pm Must Watch Race
TAB fixed odds: $2.30 Win
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/717404947/race/8
The Watchdog says : He has been enormous since resuming and although he is having his first 500m run for quite some time, I do not think he will have too many issues covering the extra ground. His 23.38sec Bendigo Cup heat win has him going sub 18.50sec off the back and that should see him turn for home with a three-length buffer and that will be enough for him to score.
$1 Win – CHIC Lucky Longshot
Warrnambool Race 3 Box 2 450m 6:47pm
TAB fixed odds: $7 Win
Form https://watchdog.grv.org.au/meeting/666539096/race/3
The Watchdog says : She turned in a gutsy performance to score at Shepparton last Saturday morning and although this is a harder assignment, I think she can go back to back. She found plenty of bother in the run at Shepparton and showed versatility to score. I am actually expecting her to lead tonight, and she is a different chaser when in the clear. There are a couple of good ones out wide, but she might be able to sneak away mid race and she will take some catching.
