An eight race card is set down for judgement at Cranbourne on Friday night as the night racing season continues in Victoria. The track has come up a Soft 7, but with a favourable forecast on the agenda, we should see an upgrade into firmer ground come race day. With the rail in the true position we expect there to be no disadvantage at the rear of the field, as the track at Cranbourne tends to play fairly when the rail is in the true position.
The first at Cranbourne is set to jump at 6:30pm AEDT. Here are our free expert Cranbourne best bets and quaddie tips.
Best Bet: Race 2 #8 Manasa @ $1.95
The best bet comes out of the Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young stable with their three-year-old filly Manasa, who is coming off a close-up fourth at Geelong a fortnight ago. Her racing pattern will see her settled towards the back of the field, especially from barrier nine and should appreciate a genuine tempo in this race. At Geelong she gave the leaders a start at the top of the straight, yet she closed the margin and looks well placed to break her maiden here at Cranbourne on Friday night with similar tactics. Manasa is paying around the $2 quote with top racing bookmakers.
Next Best: Race 1 #1 Aminatu @ $2.80
From one three-year-old filly to another, this time the Trevor Rogers trained Aminatu who is coming off a narrow runner up performance at Mornington three weeks ago. She’s a natural on pace galloper, who from barrier three should be able to find the front without many issues if her first two career runs are anything to go by. She will make sure it is a genuine gallop throughout the race, and unless there is something special in the un-raced brigade, she should be breaking her maiden here in an all the way victory.
Best Value: Race 5 #6 Zakurak @ $6.00
Shane Nichols and Clayton Douglas will look to build on the impressive form that Zakurak has shown since resuming from a spell three starts ago. First up he was a dominant winner at Yarra Valley and has since followed it up with consecutive runner-up performances at Geelong and Mornington. From barrier two he should take up the running, in what is the opening leg of the quaddie, and considering there is not much early pace engaged, he should get a quiet time of it out in front and prove hard to run down.
