Horse racing in Victoria heads to Cranbourne on Sunday afternoon, with a competitive eight-race meeting set down for decision. Despite clear skies on the agenda, the track will likely remain a Soft 6 due to the cold conditions in the regions, while the rail sticks to its true position the entire circuit. Action from Cranbourne is set to commence at 12:15pm AEST.
Best Bet at Cranbourne: Muktamil
Muktamil caught the eye when finishing third on Australian debut at Pakenham over 1400m when missing in a three-way photo finish. The son of Sea The Stars will derive great benefit from that outing and stepping up to the 1600m looks ideal for the import. Having placed over 2011m at Sandown Park in the UK, the mile looks perfect for the four-year-old to break his maiden at the sixth time of asking. From barrier three, Luke Currie will likely have Muktamil stalking the speed, and when asked for the ultimate effort, he should prove too strong late.
Best Bet
Race 2 – #4 Muktamil (3)

Next Best at Cranbourne: Russian Bobshark
Russian Bobshark looks well-placed to bring up a second career win at his fourth start as he returns to the Cranbourne 1000m. A debut winner at the track and trip, the son of Russian Revolution went to Sandown and chased home the classy Oak Hill, before finishing third at the Cranbourne 1000m on May 31. John Allen will likely have Russian Bobshark settled in the one-one from barrier five, and with even luck on the home turn, Russian Bobshark should have no issues in disposing of his rivals on Sunday.
Next Best
Race 6 – #3 Russian Bobshark (5)
3yo Gelding | T: Ciaron Maher | J: John Allen (59.5kg)

Best Value at Cranbourne: From Pantherland
From Pantherland is hard to catch, but his last two starts suggests he is right in a race like this Restricted BM64 on Sunday. The Ready For Victory progeny was a smart winner two starts back at the Cranbourne 1300m before catching the eye when storming home at Geelong when finishing fourth, beaten by a length. He is undefeated through two goes at the Cranbourne 1300m, and in what looks set to be a genuinely run affair the race sets up perfectly for From Pantherland to storm home down the heart of the track and give us a run for our money at a nice each-way price with horse racing bookmakers.
Best Value
Race 8 – #1 From Pantherland (8)
5yo Gelding | T: Ken & Kasey Keys | J: Patrick Moloney (60kg)
