A field of 12 runners are expected to line up in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes on Saturday afternoon.
Five of these mares have already tasted victory at Group level, while topweight Espiona is the only Group 1 winner set to tackle the 1200m contest at Caulfield.
The Chris Waller-trained Espiona will have to give her rivals at least 2kg due to her Group 1 Coolmore Classic win last preparation, but considering she has drawn barrier 10 of 12 and doesn’t have the best stats at 1200m, this could be more of a tune-up run for later in the spring.
Toy Show Quality winner Parisal from the Godolphin yard will make the trip down to Melbourne, but she has also drawn the carpark in barrier 11.
Papillon Club knocked off her maiden Group 3 success in the Alexandra Stakes last start, and she will be looking to kick off her spring campaign with a good pipe-opener in the Cockram Stakes.
Group 3 Bellmaine Stakes winner Wrote To Arataki will link up with Dean Yendall again first-up as she seeks to begin her spring preparation in fine style.
Jason Warren has accepted with up-and-coming star Benedetta, who will contest her first Group race at her eighth career start.
The Grahame Begg-trained C’est Magique – who surprised a few by running second in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes last spring – is set to return from a 10-month spell.
