Top New South Wales hoop Christian Reith has today been told by specialists that he will be sidelined for 12 months after being dislodged when his mount, Graphite Mist fell in the closing stages of the first race at Newcastle on Saturday.
Conscious after the fall, Reith was transported to the John Hunter Hospital with a suspected shoulder injury. While scans revealed no significant shoulder issues, it was found that he had suffered a fracture to his T4 vertebrae.
Reith will require more scans in the coming days, but initial investigations have him out of action for quite some time.
