Defending champion Chapter and Verse needs only a touch of luck in the $1 million Magic Millions QTIS at the Gold Coast to become trainer Desleigh Forster’s first million dollar earner.
Chapter and Verse showed he was on course for back-to- back Millions QTIS wins after he won the Group Three George Moore Stakes and ran third in the Listed Lough Neagh Stakes in the lead-up to Saturday’s 1300m-race.
Forster has had success turning cheap buys into big money earners in the past decade.
But she is yet to get a million dollar earner although Chapter and Verse, who cost $28,000, is up to $966,000 and needs only finish in the first four on Saturday to break the seven figure barrier.
“It would be nice to have a million dollar winner but not for me rather for the owners,” Forster said.
“Some of Chapter and Verse’s owners go back to my first really good horse Adebisi who cost $15,000 and won $881,000.
“It gave me a real thrill to win the QTIS last year for them and to win it again would be fantastic.”
Forster had entered Chapter and Verse for three races on Millions day but felt he was best suited in the QTIS race.
“He has drawn barrier three and he will just need a touch of luck in the straight,” she said.
“There is a lot of pace in Saturday’s race and he should be running over them late.”
After Saturday, Forster will set Chapter And Verse for the Sunshine Coast Cup on January 25 or head to Sydney with the gelding.
