Tavistock faces lengthy recovery

Cambridge Stud stallion Tavistock suffered a serious injury to his near fore foot eight days ago. The foot was operated on by Dr Ric Redden from Lexington, Kentucky on Friday 1st November, assisted by two farriers and Dr Hitchcock and Dr Zantingh from Cambridge Equine Hospital. Dr Redden fitted an artificial shoe and sole to the foot and placed a support structure on the other foot to assist the horse in his recovery. Stallion Tavistock withdrawn from service

Tavistock, sire of Aust Derby winner Tavago (above) has been injured and withdrawn from service. Leading New Zealand stallion Tavistock has been withdrawn from service for the rest of the breeding season after sustaining an injury. Cambridge Stud says Tavistock has suffered an injury in his paddock which means he will not be able to complete his book of mares. He has covered 76 mares this year with 43 in foal. Action-Packed Sales Format for Karaka 2020

Book 3, the third and final session of the 94th National Yearling Sales Series, will now take place on the afternoon of Friday 31 January, instead of Sunday 2 February.
