Canterbury is the destination for metropolitan racing on Friday evening, with a competitive eight-race program set for decision. Consistent rain across the region will likely have the track downgraded from the current Good 4 rating into the Soft range for race-day. The rail is out +6m the entire circuit and the meeting is scheduled to get underway at 6pm AEDT.
Best Bet: Gaylord
Gaylord did enough on debut to suggest he is worth following second-up and should appreciate the immediate step up in trip. The 1100m proved too sharp for the son of Charm Spirit at Canterbury on February 2, as the three-year-old continued to grind through the wire under Joshua Parr. He gets favours from gate five this time around, and with a solid tempo expected in this event, watch for Gaylord scorch down the centre of the course.
Best Bet
Race 2 – #3 Gaylord (5)

Next Best: Zarrose
Zarrose has only missed the frame once across her five career starts and has a terrific opportunity to add to the win column in this BM64 contest. She was no match for Franz Josef at Warwick Farm on January 26 but chased gamely through the line against a very progressive type. The Peter & Paul Snowden barn have this filly ticking over nicely third-up, and with Zarrose likely to sit much closer from stall one, she should get every chance.

Next Best Again: Wild Botanica
Wild Botanica was savaging the line in her most recent start at Warwick Farm on January 26 in an ultra-impressive return from a 40-week spell. The daughter of Speith seems to be relishing her new conditions under Joseph Pride, making strong inroads from the rear of the field in her stable debut. She ran into smart one in the form of Shezanalister, who has won again since, and with this race lacking the depth of her first-up attempt, Wild Botanica can go one better.
Next Best Again
Race 4 – #5 Wild Botanica (6)
4yo Mare | Joseph Pride | J: Reece Jones (58kg)
