James Cummings and Jamie Kah have combined with the impressive Broadsiding (+160) to take out the Group 2 BRC Sires’ Produce Stakes at Eagle Farm.

The son of Too Darn Hot was dropping back from 1600m after claiming the Group 1 Champagne Stakes at Randwick; however, there was no worry about 1400m, as the two-year-old colt sailed down the outside to pick up the leaders in the final 100m and run away with the victory.

After jumping from barrier 17, Kah was always going to have to take her medicine and settle in the back half of the field before letting down with a finish down the outside.

Cosmic Fire (+15000) and Megastar Heart (+600) ran along in front and assured a good gallop, with Territory Ash (+25000) and Bittercreek (+1400) settling in behind the leaders.

As the field straightened for home, Bittercreek produced with his run outside the slowing leaders along with Super Alloy (+12500), but it was the race favourite who stormed home over the top with Zouna (+7000), who ran on nicely to grab second at a huge price with online bookmakers.

James Cummings was at Eagle Farm to witness the win of his up-and-coming colt and he spoke about the win post-race.

“There was a bit of traffic in the early and middle stages. Turning for home, there was a lot going on,” Cummings said.

“I guess the horse’s experience shone through but Jame Kah also kept a very calm demeanour about herself, really.

“What a cool ride that was. Broadsiding has a devastating turn-of-foot, doesn’t he.

“He’s a class animal and an outstanding effort to win considering the difficulties he had to overcome.

“He’s a very good two-year-old and that was a good set up for the JJ Atkins in two weeks.

“The horse is class and we’re lucky to have him.”

Jamie Kah recorded a riding double with the win aboard Broadsiding and she was very complimentary of the winner.

“It was a bit yucky. There was a lot going on and this this horse was just all class,” Kah said of the winner.

“He wasn’t entitled to do what he did.

“There was a bit of interference going on in front of us so I had to drop back. He was just fantastic.

“When I rode him a few starts back I though he was classy.

“He’s a group one winner, came back and won the Champagne.

“Even good horses shouldn’t win like that because he had no favours at all.”
