Bright future for son of Super Seth

Two-year-old colt Kilman (NZ) (Super Seth) made a strong first impression with a debut win at Warwick Farm on Wednesday in the Chase The Dream Handicap (1100m) for trainer Chris Waller.

The son of Super Seth settled towards the rear before coming with a well-timed finish under jockey James McDonald to score by just under a length.

Purchased for $360,000 at the 2024 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Waller Racing and Mulcaster Bloodstock, Kilman races in the colours of owners Neville Morgan and David Devine and had trialled on three occasions prior to his debut.

“I have sat on him once before, he’s a good-quality colt, that’s for sure,” McDonald said. “Obviously, these colours have got another good one on their hands.

“He’s done a really good job on debut. Guy Mulcaster does a good job selecting for Nev Morgan and Dave Devine and he’s found another good one here.”

Bred by Waikato Stud, Kilman is out of Listed winner Thy, who finished fourth in the Gr.1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m), a three-quarter sister to New Zealand Champion Three-Year-Old The Jewel.

Thy foaled a colt by Noverre last season and was served by Super Seth again.

Emerging young stallion Super Seth has made a terrific start to his stud career, with his son Feroce (NZ) (Super Seth) becoming his first Group One winner when landing the Gr.1 Australian Guineas (1600m) last weekend. Like Feroce and fellow stakes winning son of Super Seth, Super Photon, Kilman is out of an O’Reilly mare, with five winners from 12 runners bred on that cross to date.
