Punters looking to take a Quaddie at The Meadows on Saturday evening will no doubt be considering taking McInerney one out in the second leg – Race 6 at 8.17pm.
Tassie trainer Blake Pursell recently sent McInerney to Victoria for a stint, with the greyhound recording a sizzling Sandown Park victory in 29.24sec two starts ago.
“I thought he was capable of running in the 29.30’s at Sandown but when he ran in the 29.20’s it did surprise me,” Pursell said.
“I actually think he’s even better suited to The Meadows than Sandown because The Meadows is more of a leaders track and quite similar to Launceston, where he races really well.”
McInerney is form expert The Watchdog’s top selection, and Pursell said his charge is perfectly drawn in Box 8.
“He has his box. He likes a little bit of room early and all going well he’ll find the early lead and cross to the rail. If that happens he should prove hard to beat,” Pursell added.
Bred in Warrnambool by Noel Mugavin, McInerney is in the care of Blake’s father Brendan Pursell, who trains out of the Victorian town of Lara.
