Bill Bootit added to the outstanding record of his dam Cochy Bondu when running to an effortless win at Ascot Park yesterday.
The four-year-old chased a tearaway leader throughout, as the outsider The Bronx set up an exciting contest in race 1.
Though he had to bring the rest of the field up and close the gap on the leader, Bill Bootit scored with plenty in hand as Williamson judged the pace perfectly.
“You just have to try and judge the pace and I left as much in the tank as I could,” the trainer-driver said.
“He was doing it comfortably all of the way and he did it with a fair bit in hand at the finish.”
Bill Bootit had shown great manners until making a mistake in his previous outing at Winton.
The trotter restored Williamson’s faith in him with a faultless display to win.
“He has got quite a bit of ability, but it comes down to manners which we thought were pretty good.”
“But he made a mistake in his last start.”
“He seems back on track today though.”
Bill Bootit is raced by his breeder Kevin Schuck alongside Williamson’s mother and father in law, Ross and Robyn Jones.
The trotter is the sixth foal and sixth winner from Schuck’s Chiola Hanover mare, Cochy Bondu.
Williamson made it a trotting double when driving the Brian Norman trained Velocity Jet to win race 5.
Williamson’s brother Brad enjoyed success as an owner with the win of Frisky Styx in race 3.
The pacer kept his unbeaten record intact with an easy victory for trainer-driver Craig Ferguson.
Ferguson found a sweet run for the pacer in the one-one and Frisky Styx took full advantage when running to an easy win.
“I thought it was going to be a bit of a tricky draw, but it couldn’t have worked out better,” Ferguson said.
“He jogged, it he got a great run, it was always going to suit him.”
“He has shown at the workouts he has always got great speed when he is saved up and he showed that today.”
Frisky Styx may not be seen in too many more starts in the south with pacer looking a strong chance of being sold to Australia.
Buyers were interested in the horse following his debut win at Winton last month and that interest is set to increase after Frisky Styx made it two from two at Ascot Park.
