Bendigo will host an eight-race card on Thursday afternoon with some strong looking fields available for punters to study. Race one is over 1300m for the three-year-old fillies and it will see one of our best bets of the program going around. The quaddie kicks off in race five, and runners will be again racing on a Soft 6 surface which is really no surprise being the middle of winter, with the rail out 4m the entire circuit.
Best Bet at Bendigo – Red Columbine
On her debut, Red Columbine made good ground when second and this race looks to be easier on paper. The debut effort was on a Heavy track so the way she made up ground made us feel that she loves it Soft or Heavy. Ethan Brown takes the ride for Robbie Griffiths & Mathew de Kock and he is sure to have watched the footage of his mount who impressed first up. She had no support on debut when starting 26-1 but we are expecting this one to attract a lot of bets so anything over even money is a good price. Nick Ryan’s horse with Damien Oliver on board will be hardest to beat (Cap De Joie).
Best Bet
Race 1 – #6 Red Columbine (6)

Next Best at Bendigo – Top Honours
Daniel Stackhouse sticks on board Top Honours after racing well with this gelding at his latest two outings. He was sixth on a Heavy track at Bendigo on June 30 and that run wasn’t as bad as it looks on form. He then ran a good second at Ladbrokes Park (Sandown) at a price of 10-1. We don’t think that we will be getting that price here with online bookmakers but half of that will still be overs in our book. He hasn’t won on Soft ground yet but he has placed three of six on the surface so we have no issues there.
Next Best
Race 6 – #3 Top Honours (12)
3yo Gelding | T: Ken & Kasey Keys | J: Daniel Stackhouse (59kg)

Best Value at Bendigo – Cheerful Legend
John Sadler and Jamie Mott combine with this three-year-old Shalaa x Jemison gelding, Cheerful Legend who is ready to show his best despite two poor runs of recent times. Before that, he was beaten a nose at Pakenham after running on strongly and despite racing poorly at Caulfield and Flemington in the last month, they were in harder races than this.He tried to lead last start and that ended in a ninth so we think he may settle back again in this. In an open race, Heywood will likely start favourite and from a good barrier in five will be hardest to beat.
Best Value
Race 8 – #6 Cheerful Legend (4)
3yo Gelding | T: John Sadler | J: Jamie Mott (60kg)
