The Benalla Racing Club is scheduled to host an eight-race card on Tuesday afternoon and Horsebetting’s Victorian form expert is confident he has found a couple of mid-week winners. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail in the true position for the meeting commencing at 1:30pm AEDT. With perfect conditions forecast on Tuesday for racing, each runner should get their chance if they’re good enough.
Benalla Best Bet – Grey Whisper
We need to be patient on Tuesday as our best bet of the day steps out in the final event, where the Ben Brisbourne-trained Grey Whisper steps out over the 1206m. The four-year-old mare is coming off consecutive victories, including a win at the track and trip two starts back. The Reliable Man mare has two wins from as many starts at the 1200m and considering she has only missed the top three on two occasions from eight starts, she is clearly a mare with ability. Barrier nine should not be an issue for the grey, as she has been getting back upon settling and hitting the line strong late, which is what she is set to do come Tuesday afternoon. With Rocket Park and She’s Original set to provide a strong tempo, the race looks perfectly set up for Grey Whisper to finish right over the top of her rivals.
Next Best Bet at Benalla – Talantino
Following a second-place finish on debut at Colac on a Heavy 9, we are hoping that getting back onto firmer going is the recipe for success for the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Talantino. The three-year-old filly gained a beautiful run in transit on March 6, but simply could not run down the race leader/eventual winner. From barrier three on Tuesday, we expect to see Harry Coffey take up the running in what looks to be a race where the pair will gain an uncontested lead throughout the 1206m event. With a quiet sectional or two, we expect Talantino to be too hard to run down, especially with natural improvement from her debut effort. The $3.90 on offer from Ladbrokes looks a treat for the chestnut filly.
Best Value Bet at Benalla – Redjina
In the second leg of the quaddie, last start Moonee Valley winner Redjina from the Noel Watson yard presents great value considering he stays at the 2040m. Having settled last in an eight-horse field in town, the Wandjina gelding travelled nicely entering the straight and produced a nice turn of foot to get the bob in one the line. He got the better of Captain Corelli and It’s True who would be short priced favourite’s in a race like this. He goes up 5.5kg for this run, but if runs anywhere near his efforts from his last start win, he looks the one the rest will struggle to hold out. The $8 quote from Bet365 is a price we are finding too hard to ignore.
