Belmont is set to host its weekly nine-race card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Western Australian tipster presents his best bets and free quaddie numbers with odds from Australia’s leading online bookmakers. The track is rated a Soft 6, the rail is out 6m for the entire circuit, and racing is set to get underway at 12:43pm AWST (2:43pm AEST).
Belmont Best Bet: Apple Schnapps
The dynamic duo of Lindsey Smith and William Pike will combine with Apple Schnapps when he steps out over 1000m in the third race of the day. Having won three of his past four starts, including one at the track and distance last time out on September 1, the four-year-old son of Alfred Nobel looks hard to go by. He tends to settle closer to last than the front of the field, but the turn of foot he possesses is better than any his rivals in this race. In a small field of eight, he won’t be too far back in the running, and with a well-timed sprint and steer from Pike, Apple Schnapps should be too hard to beat once more.
Next Best at Belmont: Iseered Iseered
We were with the Luke Fernie-trained Iseered Iseered for his win at Belmont on September 4 over 1000m, and he showed plenty that day to suggest he is worth sticking with as he steps up to 1200m. The four-year-old Safeguard gelding is tactically versatile, having won two starts back when rounding up his rivals and then being a smart all-the-way winner last time out. He has three wins from four starts on rain-affected going, and in a race where tactics look to be crucial, we anticipate Iseered Iseered’s versatility to be the difference as he makes it three wins from as many starts this campaign.
Best Value at Belmont: Miss Voodoo
The Jason Miller-trained Miss Voodoo was a handy winner at Northam on August 26 over 1600m and looks perfectly placed as she steps up to 2000m on Saturday. It was the first time she had even run a drum, but the four-year-old Blackfriars mare is certainly a runner looking for further than the mile. Having drawn wide in barrier 13, look for William Pike to have her settled towards the rear of the field. Miss Voodoo has shown she can stay all day, and if she can get a tow into the race and build through her gears nicely, it is hard to see how her rivals hold her out.
