Belmont is scheduled to host its regular nine-part card on Saturday afternoon, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Western Australian racing expert presents his best bets and quaddie numbers with odds from Australia’s top online bookmakers. The track is rated a Heavy 8 with the rail out 3m for the entire circuit, and the meeting is set to commence at 12:13pm AWST (2:13pm AEST).

Belmont Best Bet: Dunbar

If you missed Dunbar’s last start effort, do not go back and watch the replay; it is a sick watch on a day where he was a good thing beaten. Grant & Alana Williams send him back to Belmont, over the 1300m this time round, and with William Pike on board they look hard to go past. From barrier 10, we expect Pikey to settle the three-year-old son of Vancouver in the second half of the field, from where he can savage the line late. He is the class runner in the field and looks a clear best bet on the Belmont card.

Next Best at Belmont: Comes A Time

In the second leg of the quaddie, the Justin Warwick-trained Comes A Time is looking to break a run of outs as he steps up to the 1400m deep into this campaign. He found the 1000m last time a touch too sharp despite going down by the barest possible margin when finishing second, so the rise in distance looks ideal. From barrier one, we expect Chris Parnham to be positive on the four-year-old Sessions gelding and dictate terms. With a strong Belmont record to his name and a respectable wet-track record, he should prove too good for this Rating 66+ field.

Best Value at Belmont: Western Temple

The Listed Bolton Sprint is the featured event on the Belmont card, and the Peter Fernie-trained Western Temple presents great value at a double-figure price. The seven-year-old Dream Ahead gelding returns from a four-month spell, and despite drawing the widest barrier here, with even luck he should prove hard to beat. He has five runner-up performances from nine first-up runs, so we know he goes well fresh. If he is afforded even luck early on in the piece, there is no reason why he cannot break the bridesmaid tag with a win in the Bolton Sprint.
