The Listed Beaufine Stakes will headline the nine-race card at Belmont Park this Saturday, with the racing scheduled to kick off at 11:34am AWST. Although the track is rated as a Heavy 8 on Thursday, there is no rain forecast for the remainder of the week, and that should allow the surface to improve into the Soft range. The rail will be moved out to the +10m position for the entire circuit.
Beaufine Stakes Tip: Ghost Who Walks
Ghost Who Walks will return from a three-month spell and attempt to defend his Beaufine Stakes crown after defeating Real Danger last year. The Neville Parnham-trained gelding was given a barrier trial over 1000m in readiness for this first-up assignment and he should be ready to go. Kershaw Dhurun has ridden this son of God Has Spoken 17 times, and if he can find a position behind the speed, Ghost Who Walks can go back-to-back in this race.

Best Bet at Belmont: Yonga Lass
William Pike will combine with the Williams stable when he is legged aboard Yonga Lass, who will be seeking to maintain her unbeaten third-up record (2:2-0-0) intact. The four-year-old mare ran home from the back of the field to finish second behind Triple Jay over 1200m in her most recent start. Now that she rises to 1400m and at peak fitness, it is expected that Yonga Lass will appreciate the extra ground and prove hard to beat.

Next Best at Belmont: Berbere
Team Williams and William Pike will combine again with Berbere, who will step up to 1400m second-up after finishing fourth over 1000m fresh. The Gingerbread Man gelding settled last first-up, and he let down with a strong turn of foot but couldn’t get into the finish, indicating that he is looking for a longer trip. From barrier four, Pike can settle close to a slow speed, and if he can finish off like he did last start, Berbere will go very close.

Best Value at Belmont: Arnie’s Boy
After dropping back from 1600m to 1300m at this track last start, Arnie’s Boy flashed home from midfield to finish second behind My Hidden Universe. Ashley Maley has chosen to step this eight-year-old gelding back up to the mile, and he appears to have found the right race for him to record another win. Chris Parnham will settle close to the speed from barrier five, and if Arnie’s Boy gets a clear run in the home straight, he can spring a surprise at good each-way odds with horse betting sites.
