When Saturday, May 21, 2022
First Race 11:59am AWST

Belmont Park is the destination for metropolitan racing in Western Australia on Saturday afternoon where a nine-race card is scheduled. Horsebetting’s Western Australian form expert presents his best bets and top odds from online betting sites for the meeting. The track has come up a Good 4, with the rail out 6m the entire circuit for the program getting underway at 11:59am AWST (1:59pm AEST).

Best Bet at Belmont – Hardly Ever

We will be looking to build a bank early as the Simon Miller-trained Hardly Ever steps out over 1200m in the second event of the day. The three-year-old filly showed her tactical versatility by settling outside the leader in her last start win at Ascot over 1200m and on the back of that looks hard to beat in this. With more speed in this than a greyhound race at the Dapto 297m, we anticipate Patrick Carbery will have her settled in the second half of the field where she can take advantage of the genuine tempo. Hardly Ever’s turn of foot is the best in the race and this looks to be an early double-up with $2 available with Palmerbet.

Best Bet

Race 2 – Silk #3 Hardly Ever (3)

3yo Filly | T: Simon Miller | J: Chris Parnham (56.5kg)

Next Best at Belmont – Galactic Storm

In the opening leg of the quaddie it seemingly looks hard to go past the Adam Durrant-trained Galactic Storm who is yet to miss the top three in five career starts. With two wins and three minor placings to his name, the three-year-old gelding looks to be a horse on the way up and we expect him to keep his impressive record intact. He drops 4kg off his last start third at the Belmont 1400m and considering he is on the quick seven-day backup, the stable must be of the opinion he’ll be hard to beat. From barrier eight, look for Clint Johnston-Porter to have him settled in the one-one and if allowed to do so, Galactic Storm should prove too good.

Next Best

Race 3 – Silk #7 Galactic Storm (8)

3yo Gelding | T: Adam Durrant | J: Clint Johnston-Porter (55kg)

$3.20 with Neds

Best Value at Belmont – Liwa

We will be hoping to round out the day with a decently priced winner in the last when the Simon Miller-trained Liwa steps out over 1200m. The three-year-old Mulaazem filly wound up nicely over the 1100m at Ascot on May 7 when chasing home It’sarayday who goes around as a $2.20 favourite in this. We are getting almost six times the price for Liwa who finished 1.4 lengths off the favourite when they met at their last start. From barrier two, Troy Turner will stalk It’sarayday where that horse goes and with a stronger finish, we expect Liwa to finish the better. The $13 with online bookmakers looks inviting.

Best Value

Race 9 – Silk #4 Liwa (2)

3yo Filly | T: Simon Miller | J: Troy Turner (59kg)

$13 with Unibet
