Here’s the plan…
HERE’S Gerrie O’Keeffe’s plan… And there’ll be no TEARS if he doesn’t pull it off! The 69-year-old Neerim Junction trainer has a “fixation” with stayers and staying races. And that’s why he devises a “silly plan” every year to win the Duke of Edinburgh Silver Collar in New Zealand. O’Keeffe won the race – held at Auckland GRC in Manakau – with Ring The Bell in 2017 and 2018. His litter sister, Bells Are Ringin (pictured above with O’Keeffe and former AFL star Brendan Fevola) won the 2016 Group 1 Sandown Cup…

‘Rapaki’ rocks Harrison-Dawson heats
Revelation Rapaki Rocks ‘rocked’ Sandown Park tonight with a sizzling 29.24sec win in a Group 1 Harrison-Dawson heat (515m). Trained at Devon Meadows by Mario Briganti, Rapaki Rocks ($11.00) was considered a second-string to his litter brother, Big Opal Rocks, in the series. But he deservedly earned sibling bragging rights snaring his fifth win from 17 starts, including three from four over this track/distance. It was a nice consolation for Briganti considering Big Opal Rocks – second elect at $5.00 in ‘All In’ betting – failed to qualify for next…
Million Dollar Baby
‘Wonder Woman’ Wow She’s Fast is well on the way to joining the sport’s exclusive ‘millionaires’ club. Victoria’s sprinting queen will attempt to reign supreme in next week’s $100,000 to-the-winner Group 1 Sapphire Crown (515m) – and if the crown fits, wear it! She was simply sensational at Sandown Park tonight with a stunning 29.19sec heat win – around four lengths off her incredible 28.93sec personal best, which is the fourth fastest ever at the Lightwood Road venue. But as the racecaller so descriptively commented: “There were a few heart…
Clarification on dress code requirements
Minimum dress requirements were removed from the rulebook from May 1, with Dress Standard Guidelines and Policy applying from 1 May 2021 and available here. As part of that change the Board endorsed that further and specific consultation with participants occur on other changes that were proposed with the intention that an updated dress code could be completed later in the year. Apart from the addition of a new option allowing participants to wear black shorts or a black skirt during Daylight Savings time, there is no change to the…
