Mr. Audacious is Sportsbet’s $2.10 favourite for the $47,000 to-the-winner Cup Final, to be run Thursday night (Australia Day). Trained by Rachael Busuttil and husband Mark at Kilmany, Mr. Audacious returned to the track for the first time since September 1 when contesting the second of seven Cup heats held last Friday night. And what…
Legend a new ‘Cups King’
Twin brothers Daryl and Colin Brennan are “confident” Mobile Legend can announce himself as Victoria’s new country cups ‘king’ in Thursday night’s $74,335 Group 2 Bridges on Argyle Traralgon Cup Final (450m). Mobile Legend is chasing consecutive cup crowns after brilliantly winning the G2 Warragul Cup (450m) on January 13. After a ‘stop start’ 2022, Mobile Legend has taken the Gippsland Festival of Racing by storm, winning five of his last six starts, the defeat a third in a G1 Hobart Thousand heat in December, beaten only three-quarters of a…
‘Happy little Vegemite’ has a ‘rose in every cheek’
Just prior to Aston Profit’s 105th race outing, RSN (Racing & Sport 927AM) racecaller Victoria Shaw had the good fortune to interview Liam Sharp of Avalon’s ‘Team Sharp’. And, as luck, or more factually, good race preparation would have it, Aston Profit went on to win her 105th start at Geelong on January 20. Further evidence of how greyhounds just love to run! No matter their age. I hope you enjoy the attached interview (the first of a two-part series) with the Sharp family, who simply have come from nowhere…

Vice Grip’s fairy tale finish
Victorian brothers Glenn and Grant Pask’s dream ride with homebred Group 1-winner Vice Grip has come to a fitting finale, with the 2022 Perth Cup hero bowing out on a winning note earlier this month. Vice Grip enjoyed a perfect finish to a remarkable racing journey at his adopted home track, Cannington, recording a Best Of Night 29.74sec victory at his 86th and final start on January 7, just three days before his fourth birthday. It was the 38th win of a wonderful career that began in inauspicious fashion at…

Mr. Audacious sets ‘brash’ Traralgon record
We haven’t been blessed with his gifted presence in a race for 141 days. However, local pin-up Mr. Audacious made a bold – and track record-breaking – return in a heat of the Group 2 Bridges on Argyle Traralgon Cup (450m) on Friday night. Trained at Kilmany by Rachael Busuttil, Mr. Audacious produced a dashing 24.431sec win – slicing a half-length off the 24.482sec mark set by Salad Dodger only nine days ago.
