GRV has postponed the introduction of a Preferential Box Draws (PBD) pilot to allow for its current Local Rules consultation process to conclude. An initial PBD pilot was set to commence at Traralgon on Wednesday 19 April, 2023. However, the delay will allow all feedback on Local Rules to be compiled and provide an opportunity to further develop the PBD pilot to allow the concept to achieve the best possible outcomes. PBD races are expected to commence later this year, with dates likely to be announced in the coming months. GRV…

Rhino leads Grenfells’ Cup charge
Rising star Rhino Bale – “the best bred dog in Australia” – will lead young local trainers Correy and Samantha Grenfell’s quest for back-to-back victories in the Group 2 Sportsbet Geelong Gold Cup (520m). Last year, the Anakie husband-and-wife team celebrated an emotion-charged triumph in their hometown feature courtesy of veteran marvel Yozo Bale. Bali Ha’i in Ballarat Cup
Daniel Gibbons and his family are currently holidaying in Bali. But they were on ‘their own special island’ when Kelsey Bale put the ‘sunlight on the sand’ in the $78,795 Group 2 Sportsbet Ballarat Cup (450m) on Friday night. Following a 35-minute delay to race start time due to inclement weather, Kelsey Bale – in the lyrics of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s South Pacific – revealed “there’s nothin’ like a dame” with a ‘nothing in the world’ victory in the $50,000 to-the-winner event. Kelsey Bale was last approaching the home turn, but…
