The Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic will headline the nine-race card at Ascot on Saturday afternoon, where the first event is scheduled to jump at 12:29pm AWST. With perfect weather predicted in the lead-up to the meeting, the track is expected to remain in the Good 4 rating that was posted at acceptances. The rail will be in its true position for the entire circuit.
Sheila Gwynne Classic tip: Bonjoy
Bonjoy is clearly the horse to beat in the feature race of the day, following three wins from four starts this time in. After claiming a strong win over 1600m at this track last start, Jason Miller has given this five-year-old mare a six-week freshen before dropping back in trip to 1400m. Barring bad luck, Bonjoy will prove too good for her rivals, and the +200 on offer with horse racing bookmakers is a great price.

Race 8 – #1 Bonjoy (5)
5yo Mare | T: Jason Miller | J: Clint Johnston-Porter (58.5kg)
Best Bet at Ascot: Kay Tee Why
Two talented three-year-olds will clash in the opening event of the day, and Kay Tee Why appears to get the right conditions to bounce off his ultra-impressive maiden victory. The Adam Durrant-trained gelding settled at the back of a small field over 1000m at this track before unleashing with a brilliant turn of foot to claim a 1.7-length win. With his main rival expected to be held up on the fence, Kay Tee Why can stay in clear air and finish over the top of his rivals once again.
Best Bet
Race 1 – #3 Kay Tee Why (7)
3yo Gelding | T: Adam Durrant | J: William Pike (56kg)
Next Best at Ascot: Trio
Grant & Alana Williams will be hoping for an ounce of luck for Trio, who was held up in between and behind tiring horses at Pinjarra last start. The son of Maschino stormed home down the outside of runners in the final 150m to get within 3.6 lengths from the winner in ninth place. After drawing barrier nine, William Pike can settle worse than midfield off the fence, and if he gets clear air from the 400m mark, Trio will be finishing off strongly.
Next Best
Race 7 – #6 Trio (9)
4yo Gelding | T: Grant & Alana Williams | J: William Pike (57kg)
Best Value at Ascot: Capre Omnia
Capre Omnia has been a model of consistency in recent starts, finishing in the placings in his last six, including two wins. The Dylan Bairstow-trained galloper was held up slightly behind the tiring leaders before flashing late to finish second behind Rocking Gem at this track and trip. Dropping back in grade is expected to suit Capre Omnia, and if he produces a similar effort, he can record another win at a nice price with BlondeBet.
Best Value
Race 4 – #1 Capre Omnia (7)
5yo Gelding | T: Dylan Bairstow | J: Jarrad Noske (60kg)
