HorseBetting’s racing analyst brings you his best bets and quaddie numbers for the monster 11-race card at Ascot this Saturday, including top picks in both Group 3 races. The track is rated a Soft 7 and the rail is in the true position for the entire course. The first race is set to jump at 11:04am AWST, with the last to go at 5:45pm.
Group 3 Prince Of Wales Stakes Best Bet – Elite Street
Daniel Morton and Brad Rawiller combine in the Prince Of Wales Stakes with Group 1 winner Elite Street. The five-year-old had a late autumn campaign in Victoria, finishing down the track in both the Newmarket Handicap and William Reid at Group 1 level. First-up this campaign, the son of Street Boss won well at Listed level at this track and distance, defeating Rock Magic and Stageman by three-quarters of a length. He drops 1kg in weight and meets Rock Magic 4.5kg better off, so with extra fitness in his legs, he should win this. Rawiller will get all of the favours from barrier three.
Group 3 Asian Beau Stakes Best Bet – Kissonallforcheeks
Daniel Morton saddles up the favourite in both Group 3 races on Saturday afternoon and looks a terrific chance of making it a winning double with Kissonallforcheeks in the Asian Beau Stakes. Morton has trained 11 winners from his past 50 starters, and given that this four-year-old mare doesn’t know how to lose, we are tipping she will make it another win for her in-form trainer. This daughter of Written Tycoon has won seven of her 13 starts and finished second on four occasions, so there is no denying her will to win. Kissonallforcheeks was a Listed winner at Bunbury in March, so she deserves a Group 3 victory now. Having returned with a fast-finishing win here over 1400m on October 9 under Clint Johnson-Porter, she shouldn’t need to improve too much to get it done under the same circumstances.
Ascot’s Best Bet Of The Day – Roman Flirt
It will be a long wait for us punters in the eastern states, but after what is set to be a cracking Derby Day, it would almost be rude not to back Pikey in the last. William Pike has saved many a punter’s day in the final race, and on Saturday, he partners Daniel & Ben Pearce’s in-form Roman Flirt in the 11th. The daughter of Roman Emperor has won two-straight races at Ascot, over 1800m and 2200m respectively, and now drops back to 1800m, where she was a two-length winner under Pike on October 9. Drawn in barrier seven, the six-year-old mare will be able to settle in the first half of the field on the outside of runners and get into plenty of clear air in the concluding stages to go home the better. All of Australia could be on her by this time in the evening!
