Ascot Racecourse will host a huge nine-race card this Saturday, highlighted by the Group 2 Lee Steere Stakes over 1400m. The track is currently rated a Good 4, and with warm weather and no rain on the forecast, we should still be around that rating come race day. The rail will be in the 3m position, and the first race kicks off at 12:34pm AWST.
Lee Steere Stakes Tip: God Has Chosen
The feature race of the day is the Group 2, $250,000 Lee Steere Stakes over 1400m, and we will be siding with the Donna Riordan-trained God Has Chosen. This five-year-old gelding has a very impressive record for his career, recording eight wins in his first 15 starts and he is also three from three second-up, which is how he hits this race on Saturday. Returning from a spell last start, this son of Playing God was too far back in the Group 3 Eurythmic Stakes but he did run the fastest last 400m in the race to finish eighth by just over three lengths. If Joseph Azzopardi can get this guy to settle at the back of this smaller field and be hitting the outside on the turn, he will be very strong late and hard to hold out.

Best Bet: Bustler
In the Listed Farietha Stakes for the three-year-old colts and geldings over 1400m we have sided with the unbeaten, Bustler, for the Neville Parnham yard. This three-year-old gelding has won his first three starts in his career over 1000m and 1200m, meaning this race on Saturday will be his first start over 1400m. After running away from the field at his most recent start, we expect that the 1400m will be no problem for this son of Playing God, who will be looking to go four from four to start his very bright career. Steven Parnham has ridden this talented galloper at all three of his race starts, so he will know exactly what this guy likes and how to settle him. All he needs is a bit of luck in running and he should be winning his first Listed race of his career.

Next Best Bet: Swear To God
Another talented lightly raced galloper is the three-year-old colt for the Russell Stewart yard, Swear To God, who will be looking for his fourth win at his sixth career start. At his first five starts, this son of Playing God has never missed the placings. At his most recent start he had to weave his way through a gap halfway down the straight and he was punched out to record a tough win over 1200m at Ascot. Laqdar Ramoly will take the ride once again on this talented colt after riding him to victory last start, and if he can find a similar position in running on Saturday this guy will have every chance to record win number four of his career.
Next Best Bet
Race 7 – #14 Swear To God (3)
3yo Colt | T: Russell Stewart | J: Laqdar Ramoly (54kg)
$4.20 with Bet365
Best Value: Capricorn Man
The Sean & Jake Casey-trained Capricorn Man presents good value in the second race of the day, after running a good third behind Bustler on October 22 last start. This three-year-old colt has a good record at the Ascot 1200m, recording two wins and a third place at four career starts. This gelding is in great form at the moment and coming into this three-year-old One Metro Win Handicap, he finds another winnable race with the aid of Kershaw Dhurun’s 2kg claim. With no other speed influence in the race, this guy should be able to find the lead uncontested, and if that is the case he will be very hard to run down in the straight.
