TAB this morning opened markets for two Group 1 races during the 2022 Sydney Autumn Carnival, with both the Doncaster Mile and Queen Elizabeth Stakes available for pre-nominations betting.

The bookmaker has added 44 horses to the Doncaster market, installing Caulfield Guineas winner Anamoe as the $8 favourite for the April 2 feature, ahead of the highly promising Espiona ($11) and Golden Eagle winner I’m Thunderstruck ($11).

Five horses sit on $15, including The Invitation winner Icebath, Epsom Handicap winner Private Eye, Winx Stakes winner Mo’unga and the lightly raced pair Fangirl and Ayrton.

The fourth line of betting at $26 includes the likes of last year’s Doncaster Mile winner, Cascadian, Caulfield Guineas placegetters Artorius and Captivant, as well as Group 1 winners Probabeel, Superstorm, Tofane, Hungry Heart and Never Been Kissed.

The Doncaster will be run over 1600m at Royal Randwick on Day 1 of The Championships under handicap conditions.

Seven days later, the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes will be run over 2000m on Day 2 of The Championships, and it is shaping to be one of the best races we have seen on Australian soil in a long time.

TAB has opened with 46 horses in the market, with Zaaki pegged as an $8 favourite following his win in the Mackinnon Stakes at Flemington on November 6.

International raider Addeybb is an $11 chance in his quest to win three straight Queen Elizabeths, sharing that quote with Anamoe and this year’s Melbourne Cup quinella, Verry Elleegant and Incentivise.

Cox Plate winner State Of Rest sits alongside Spring Champion Stakes winner Profondo, Japanese Breeders’ Cup winner Loves Only You and I’m Thunderstruck on the third line of betting at $15 apiece.

Victoria Derby winner Hitotsu is one of 14 horses rated a $26 chance in the early market, along with Colette, Gold Trip, Mugatoo and Think It Over.

The Queen Elizabeth Stakes will be run at Randwick on April 9, with a total prize pool of $4 million.
